Hello!
I'm Joshua Holland.

My Teaching Story

I am currently in my 7th year of teaching at Hopewell Valley Central High School and my 11th year of teaching, overall.

I graduated with honors from The College Of New Jersey in 2011, receiving a Bachelor’s of Arts in Secondary English Education. Having completed student teaching assignments at Grace Dunn Middle School in Trenton, Ewing High School, and Walnut Street School in Delanco, I served as a maternity-leave replacement at Hillsborough Middle School and a substitute teacher at my alma mater, Delran High School, before joining the Willingboro High School staff as a full-time English teacher in 2012.

Following four years of teaching CP English 9 & 10, Journalism, and Read180 classes, I joined the English faculty at Hopewell Valley Central High School in 2016 to anchor the ATLAS English program for at-promise learners struggling to find joy in literature and creative expression. As of the 2021 school year, I teach Honors English I and CP English II.

In my spare time, you will usually find me playing hockey in one of several ice and roller leagues, hiking up mountains, playing drums and guitar in rock bands, riding my mountain bike, lifting weights, rooting for the Philadelphia sports teams, traveling with my wife, or spending time with my younger brothers.

I am currently supplementing my education by working towards earning my Master’s Degree in English at The College Of New Jersey, pursuing the study of my favorite literary field; Ecocriticism. My biggest personal goal is to complete my debut novel, tentatively titled "All The Fires That Fence In The World."
